Martin Academy's Opening Day

Martin Academy officially opened today.  A was thrilled to be starting her first day of Pre-K.  She knew we would be starting Pre-K on Monday so she has been asking every day when Monday will be.   We began our morning with blueberry muffins and some sweet Bible time.

Our character trait for the week, based on our memory verse and Bible story, is being orderly.  With that in mind, I thought it was the perfect time to introduce her chore chart.  For now, this is a new and exciting thing:) The pictures were drawn by none other than Mr. Martin.

I found this idea off of planted-by-streams.blogspot.com along with many of her other ideas that I have been inspired by.

One of the most surprising things about today was how quickly our actual "school work" was completed.  We did about 30 minutes this morning of Calendar Math and Handwriting and 40 minutes of Phonics/Reading and Science during W's nap time.

In between our lessons, we enjoyed swimming at the pool with Sugar.

It was a fun, successful first day of Martin Academy!
